Robert Sagrillo is an attorney and a founding member of Protocols® – a multidisciplinary consulting firm that specializes in medical settlement planning for parties involved in workers’ compensation and personal injury liability cases. The goal of Protocols® is to achieve optimal outcomes for all parties.
The Protocols® team of experts – medical, benefits and legal – works together with clients to create a comprehensive plan for the projected medical care of an injured person. We also advise on the best and most cost-effective way to finance this care. Among Protocols® specialty services are medical projections, life care plans and Medicare set-aside analysis, allocation and administration.
As a settlement planning consultant, Robert brings to the table his expertise in public benefits, trust and estate planning, and tax. He was one of the first Medicare set-aside advisors in the country, and continues to consult nationally with the largest self-insured employers and workers’ compensation insurance carriers. He is also a founding member and partner at the law firm Sagrillo Hammond Dineen & Poskus.
Robert has given presentations on these and other subjects before local, regional and national organizations – legal and professional.
Robert has been designated a Certified Elder Law Attorney (CELA) by the National Elder Law Foundation.* He is a member of the Denver Estate Planning Council, the American Association for Justice (AAJ) and the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA). He is also a member of the trust and estates section and the tax section of the Colorado Bar Association, and the business section, real property and probate section and tax law section of the American Bar Association. In addition, he is a member of the National Structured Settlements Trade Association (NSSTA) and National Alliance of Medicare Set-Aside Professionals (NAMSAP).
In Denver, Robert volunteers his time to help people with legal problems.
Robert holds a law degree from the University of Denver College of Law and a Master of Laws in Taxation from the University of Denver College of Law and Daniels College of Business. He has trained for more than 100 hours in facilitative mediation. He also holds a certificate in International law in trade and business from the University of San Diego. His undergraduate degree is in economics, from the University of Colorado in Boulder.

Most recently, Robert successfully argued the case of Stell v. Boulder County Department of Social Services and Colorado Department of Health Care Policy and Financing (No. 03SC511) before the Colorado Supreme Court.
